Peter Sergakis

Right now in the Ville-Marie borough of Montreal, there is a project referred to as Mega-Bar.

This project would be horrible for the people living in this borough. I'm already afraid to go get groceries because of all the derelicts hanging around the Sports Station and Karaoke bar (not to mention the drunken idiots smoking their cigarettes and weed right on the street next to the taxi-stand). These two bars are owned by none other than Peter Sergakis, the dude that also owns Sky in the Gay Village (which i always boycott).

Now they want to infiltrate the residents' space surrounding the 2 bars and increase the size of their already-over legal limit sized establishments. This will invade the parking lot in front of the local grocery store, and cause surrounding residents to hear the bars' ruckus til last call if their plans to open an over 250-seat outdoor terrace goes through.

We will no longer have peace and quiet in our own homes if this JERK is allowed to continue buying up our whole city. I received a letter stating all the infractions Sergakis has already committed with his Sports Station. Who is allowing him to break the law, and then insist for more to be broken to serve his own purpose?

He ruined the heritage Cock n' Bull pub by ousting its former owners (apparently charging the same price for half-full pints, claiming a machine counts the ounces)

He has made me no longer want to live in the Ville-Marie borough. He has managed within the past year, to turn it into Vile-Marie. I don't feel safe walking near these 2 bars, with yet a third bar across the street (the new and "improved" Cock n' Bull)

I've lived here for 12 years, but I know other residents have been here for much longer. Some are senior citizens. I'm still young, but what about these older people who just want to live their life and occasionally go for a walk down St-Catherine or surrounding areas? They shouldn't have to fear for their life when getting a cab or groceries nearby!

There are also many families with young children in this neighborhood. Is it safe to have this many obnoxious, unruly drunks hanging around this area?

A friend of mine was patted down upon entering the Sports Station recently. If they are doing body-checks doesn't this send a message that crowds are suspected of carrying certain dangerous or suspicious items?

My friend politely told the security guard that he was in no mood to be patted down in order to get a quick beer. Before leaving the premises to go elsewhere, he joked that he understood the doorman was just doing his job, since the concern is probably more about someone walking in with an Uzi, looking for Sergakis himself, rather than aiming to harm fellow bar patrons.

This 'hood is becoming the ridicule of downtown. If citizens don't speak up, it looks like the project will get the o-kay even though it comes in conflict with so many laws.

I feel ashamed to be a downtowner!
(this was in parts, sent to the Gazette newspaper...wonder if they'd publish it)

Personally, I too am boycotting all of Peter Sergakis stablishments. I went to "La station des sports" on St-Catherine close to Berri just the other day to watch the soccer game. I ordered breakfast and later on I got my self a beer as I was waiting for my friends to arrive. Sudenly this man comes out of no where and starts yelling, and I really mean screaming, at me with hand gestures and all. I had never been so humiliated, insulted, mistreated in my life.
If he would have come to me and told me that I was not allowed to reserve the table, I would have understood, said that I m sorry, and left.
But no, no one told me anything. He just came screaming at me to the point where I had tears.
Later on I found out that the man who enjoys screaming at young girls is no other than Peter Sergakis him self.

nathalie, let's get this straight...it was in the morning....you had breakfast and then a beer....be real...you are no ideal clent

Well Dominic, is not my fault that the world cup was in the morning.
Besides:
1) The game had not started yet and 4 friends were joining me, so there was going to be a lot more drinking going on.
2) You have no idea of the amount of money that I have spent in his other stablishment previously so don't come telling me about being an ideal client.
3) That does not even matter. No body deserves to be treated like shit. The time or quantity is besides the point. He did not have to scream, he did not need to humiliate me, he could of just told me. Like one human speaks to another. He could have approched me and explainned that I wasn't allowed.

You must know him personally (and by the way,I'm talking about old Peter, not Peter junior)because how could anyone defend this man's behavior?
How can anyone think that it's ok to yell at clients depending on the amount of things that client ordored?

On or about March 5 @ 2am. After noticing a yellow "Inerac" sticker on the front window of the coat check. I asked if I could use my debit card to pay for coat check/cover. I was told "No there is a machine in the back". Not wanting to have to pay $2.50 to withdrawal $20 bucks.I asked to speak with the manager regarding the discrepancy. Suddenly this Husky man who claimed to be the "Manager" asked what my problem was and ushered me into the back room on the 1st floor where I made my case. What happened next is total blur because before I knew it I was outside on the ground with my chest being compressed to the point I could not breathe, I asked politely if he could let me breathe and he let up somewhat. Then came the cops who of coarse spoke to him in french so I had I no idea what was said. Apparently the cops said I assaulted him. I am 140lbs, 5"7. He is I suspect 220lbs 6"5. why would I hit him. Well to make a long story short I am BANNED for life from sky. My Question is the man who did this to me what's his name and what are the names of the other major owners there.

Ethan - thanks for sharing. as far as i know, many establishments that have ATM machines on the premises WILL refuse to do card transactions at the entrance/admission desk/cash (it happens in restaurants too). this however, is not the problem in your case. if you are a tourist, it's your right to be explained the procedure, rather than being beat down because you maybe insisted a bit too hard that you wanted to make a card payment without using the atm machine because of the extra fees you would have had to pay for that service.

i don't know who the manager at sky is, but he is definitely under the reign of sergakis, the owner of all these establishments. he was either acting out of brutality, and/or he is instructed to do so by his boss. either way, not cool. talking to you with WORDS may have been better than with fists or boots.

Though I don't agree with Sergakis's way of conducting business, I think you're being a bit of a whiner, if you want peace, quiet and security, move to the suburbs seriously, what were you expecting living so close to downtown, Concordia University is right down the street (aka thousands of students who like to blow off steam with alcohol and weed). You have no right to complain about the businesses being established in your area when your area is a BAR AREA.
